Pleached Field Maple trees create a striking addition to a garden and can be a highly effective way to create a raised screen.
These pleached Field Maple are planted in 45lt pots with handles which makes for easier handling whilst planting although please be aware that these are heavy trees to handle. Their stems are 6ft (180cm) tall (from the top of the pot) and have no branches below their heads which are 4x4ft (120x120cm). If a particular size of pleached head is required, we can usually create bespoke sizes for customers, just ring us to discuss and we will see what we can do.
Due to the size of these plants, we will need to quote for delivery on an individual basis. Please telephone us to discuss delivery of your plants. Plants can, of course, be collected from our nursery free of charge.
Field Maple (Acer campestre) is an excellent deciduous native hedging plant and grows well on most soils. Field Maple (sometimes known as Hedge Maple) has been used for many centuries as a hedging plant and will be found in most farm hedges throughout the country. Its leaves turn a yellow colour in the autumn and can show red flushes. It pleaches well to create raised hedging screens.
These pleached trees should be trimmed annually to retain their shape and to encourage them to thicken out.
Pleached Field Maple trees can be planted singularly or in avenues according to your planting plan.
More information on Pleached Field Maple Hedging and the varieties that we have available can be found on the Pleached hedging category page. In addition to Field Maples, we also usually stock Pleached Hornbeam and Pleached Lime trees.
