These 30-40cm (1ft) high instant Lonicera hedging troughs are ideal for creating a small instant hedge in the garden where eye level privacy is not required. These can be used to create small formal hedges demarcating parts of a garden or to provide a neat edge to borders and flowers beds.
As far as small hedges go, Lonicera hedging is relatively fast growing and will put on about a foot (30cm) of growth a year if left untrimmed and can be considered faster growing than some of its competitors.
These hedging troughs are 100cm long and can be planted in a line to give an instant hedge and give an immediate impact. They have been clipped to shape so are a long way along the process of having an instant hedge. Lonicera should be clipped regularly to encourage it to have more of a thick and dense shape and we would suggest a clipping in the spring and autumn would be sensible.
Many people choose Lonicera hedging as an alternative to Box hedging, as it clips extremely well and can make a dense and tidy hedge. We also stock a range of other plant species suitable for growing smaller hedges. See our Smaller Hedging category page which includes other suggestions such as Euonymus, Yew, Sarcococca and others.
Lonicera grows extremely well on lighter sandier soils as well as chalky soils and is very versatile. If you are unsure whether Lonicera hedging will grow well in your situation, speak to our team of experts and we will be pleased to advise on the most sensible product for your garden.
