These Privet hedge plants are grown in 7lt pots and are an excellent way to plant a Privet (Ligustrum Ovalifolium) hedge. Being container grown, these Privet will quickly establish themselves in your garden representing good value for money. They all measure at least 4ft (120cm) from the top of the pot so this is the height it will be when planted in your garden.
Privet is relatively quick growing and one can expect up to a foot (30cm) of growth a year if left untrimmed. It forms a dense semi-evergreen hedge with oval shaped green leaves and produces white highly scented flowers in the spring and looks good in formal situations. It is frequently found in many residential gardens and has been popularly used as a hedging plant for many decades. It clips well and is sometimes used to create topiary in shapes.
It can be grown as a small hedge of 3-4ft (90-120cm) in height but will be equally happy if grown as a taller hedge of 6-7ft (180-210cm) to give that all important eye level privacy.
A Privet hedge will need to be trimmed annually in the spring or autumn as you would with any other hedge.
We recommend planting these Privet at 1.5ft (45cm) apart (as shown in the picture).
Privet is tolerant of most soil types although it does not like waterlogged soil. It also grows quite happily in full sunshine and is also shade tolerant making it versatile for a number of different situations.
